As the leading Data Security solution for the cloud, Laminar delivers agile data security that enables innovation while protecting the organization’s greatest asset: its data. However, we know that a data security posture management (DSPM) solution is just one piece of the cloud security technology stack, and we are committed to preserving — and extending — agile data security beyond our platform. That’s why we’re pleased to be selected by Wiz, to be a launch partner for their Wiz Integration (WIN) program.

The integration between Wiz and Laminar optimizes the value of both platforms while enabling organizations to more efficiently and effectively secure their public cloud environments. Laminar enriches Wiz with a layer of data context that allows organizations to fully understand the impact of each attack path and issue detected by Wiz. In addition, data security policy violations detected by Laminar are pushed into Wiz’s platform to streamline the remediation process.

“Integrating best-in-class data discovery capabilities from the Laminar platform into Wiz has helped our SecOps team prioritize and more quickly remediate issues that put data at risk. This gives us an end-to-end, 360-degree view of our data and cloud security posture,” says Guy Fridman, Head of Security Operations and Response, Agoda.

As leading cloud security solutions, Wiz and Laminar share some similarities. Both are designed for the cloud and are fully cloud native. Both connect to a cloud service provider’s APIs and are agentless- first, asynchronous, easy to deploy, and deliver immediate time to value. However, the platforms differ in terms of who uses each one and for what purpose: Wiz delivers a CNAPP for cloud security professionals, and Laminar delivers a comprehensive data security solution designed for data security, data governance and data privacy teams.

Complimentary solutions for data security teams

The primary objective of cloud security is to minimize potential threats to an organization’s data. In traditional scenarios, Cloud Native Application Protection Platforms (CNAPPs) primarily identify and address infrastructure-level misconfigurations and vulnerable attack paths that attackers may exploit. These misconfigurations often result in data exposure and heighten the risk of a breach or unauthorized access. To mitigate this risk, Wiz has added Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) capabilities within their CNAPP solution as well as strategic partnerships with DSPM providers.

Ensuring data security in the cloud necessitates an open ecosystem strategy that empowers customers with flexibility and choice while providing enhanced data security coverage. Recognizing this need, Laminar and Wiz have forged a strategic technology partnership. This partnership enables the two security platforms to exchange data seamlessly, fostering a more comprehensive and robust defense against potential threats to data exposure.

“At the end of the day, cloud security is all about protecting data. Laminar’s agile, data-centric approach to cloud security delivers value that extends beyond the platform itself to elevate the tools in our customers’ cloud security technology stack,” Amit Shaked, CEO at Laminar.

The integration between Wiz and Laminar combines the best understanding of cloud risk with the best understanding of data in the cloud, enabling organizations to:

  • Prioritize infrastructure risk with data
  • Prevent sensitive data exposure
  • Prioritize data at risk for remediation

The integration between Wiz and Laminar drives collaboration — a key tenet of agile data security — between cloud and data security teams. Data security teams use Laminar to secure overexposed and unprotected data, remediate misplaced data, and delete all redundant, obsolete, and trivial data. This ensures a more secure, hygienic data environment that is compliant with relevant data policies. The data posture is then fed into the cloud security efforts through the Wiz and Laminar integration, allowing cloud security teams to better understand how to prioritize cloud infrastructure vulnerabilities.

“A best-in-class cloud operating model reduces risk, improves ROI, and drives efficiency,” said Oron Noah, Director of Product Management, Wiz. “That value proposition is what lies at the heart of WIN, and what partners like Laminar are helping to make a reality. This collaborative philosophy brings real customer benefits and we are so thankful to have Laminar on board for this launch.”

In the relatively short history of the cloud, the industry has learned that the security methodologies and processes used on-prem must be transformed if we are to maintain the agility and innovation afforded by the cloud. For vendors, that means not only reimagining how we enable security capabilities but also how we integrate with and complement other solutions in the technology stack. Organizations can no longer afford the added complexity, operational overhead, and risk introduced with each new security solution. Thanks to Wiz and Laminar, you don’t have to.
